Since the one seat system started in 2003, the PLP have won Devonshire North West in 4 General Elections and the OBA have won it once, and the seat is currently held by the PLP’s Wayne Caines.
The 2020 General Election saw Wayne Caines retain the seat after winning it in the 2017 General Election — which saw former PLP Premier Paula Cox run in the area as an Independent. In the 2012 General Election, Ms Cox, who was the then-Premier, lost her seat after being defeated at the polls by the OBA’s Glen Smith.
