On January 8, 2025, it was announced that the island’s next General Election will be held on February 18, 2025.

The 2025 General Election will see candidates representing the Progressive Labour Party [PLP], One Bermuda Alliance [OBA], and the Free Democratic Movement [FDM], 27 independent candidates and one person representing the Emperial Group.

The PLP is the current government, and the OBA is the current official opposition. The PLP enter the general election holding a 29 to 7 majority in the 36-seat House of Assembly, and in order for the Government to change hands, the PLP will have to lose over 10 seats.

There will be 110 candidates for the 2025 General Election — which is a larger number than usual — and according to the official nomination list, the PLP have 36 candidates, the OBA have 36, the FDM have 10, there are 27 Independents running, and one person is running under the Emperial Group name.
