Since the one seat system started in 2003, the PLP have won the seat in all five General Elections with over 60% of the time. The seat is currently held by the PLP’s Dennis Lister, who serves as Speaker of the House and is the longest serving Member of Parliament, having first been elected to Parliament in the 1989 General Election as one of the two MPs for Sandys North under the then system of dual seat constituencies.
