The 2025 General Election will be a three-way race between the incumbent Vance Campbell [OBA], Shomari Talbot-Woolridge [PLP], and Dwight Jackson [Independent].
Since the one seat system started in 2003, the OBA or UBP won the seat in 4 General Elections, with Trevor Moniz winning four times, twice as an OBA MP and twice as a UBP MP and the PLP winning once. In early August 2020, Mr Moniz announced that he was retiring, which would have caused a by-election, however a General Election was called.
In the 2020 General Election, this was one of 5 seats that changed from the OBA to PLP, with the PLP’s Vance Campbell earning a victory at the polls. In August 2024, Mr Campbell resigned from the PLP and joined the OBA, so while the seat was originally won by the PLP in the 2020 election, it is now held by the OBA as the MP crossed the floor.
